Strictly's Pete Wicks speaks out on relationship with Maura Higgins after I'm A Celeb confession
by Danny Gutmann · DevonLiveStrictly Come Dancing's Pete Wicks has opened up about his relationship with Maura Higgins after she hinted at their romance on I'm A Celebrity. Speaking on the Staying Relevant podcast, which he co-hosts with close friend Sam Thompson, they discussed recent events in their lives.
Sam revealed that during his interview with Maura post-eviction from the ITV show, he had intended to avoid discussing her and Pete's relationship out of loyalty to his friend, stating "loyalty to Pete beats everything".
However, Strictly star Pete humorously responded: "It does until the leaving interview, and you say 'welcome to the family', so I guess that one just sort of slipped out did it?"
Despite Sam's slip-up, it was Maura who appeared to confirm the relationship while chatting with campmates in the jungle. Later, in a more candid revelation on ITV's This Morning with Alison Hammond, Maura admitted: "You do forget about the cameras, and I do like to keep things private, but let's be real, I said it. I can't remember saying it, but I said the words 'I miss him'."
She added: "I do miss him, like I missed all my friends and family. Honestly, he's been so supportive, honestly. I didn't know if he was still in Strictly and I'm so proud of him, he's proud of me, and I can't wait to see him when I get back."
During the episode of I'm A Celeb's 'Coming Out' that aired on December 13, she revealed: "If you're missing someone, you're missing someone and it comes out. And I do, I miss him. Yeah, I really do miss him," reports the Mirror.
She even asked her friend Talia if Pete was still competing in Strictly. After her adventure on the ITV show, she joyously reunited with Pete and shared a photo with friends at the ME hotel in London on Instagram.
Pete Wicks and his partner Jowita Przystal were knocked out of this year's Strictly Come Dancing after ending up in the bottom two opposite Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec, with the former Love Island contestant winning the dance-off and securing a place in the final.
