Car fire in Ayrshire village treated as 'wilful' as police investigate

A car was set on fire in Auchinleck last night (Monday, December 16) prompting a police investigation.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Cameron Drive in the town shortly before 6pm when the fire was discovered.
Two fire crews attend the scene and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that there were no casualties.
Police Scotland have now confirmed to Ayrshire Live that the fire was “wilful” and that they are investigating the circumstances.
A video was shared on social media last night showing the vehicle engulfed in flames before emergency service personnel had arrived.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.05pm on Monday, 16 December, 2024, officers received a report of a vehicle on fire on Cameron Drive, Auchinleck.
“The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 5.58pm on Monday, 16 December to reports of a car on fire on Cameron Drive in Auchinleck.
"Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances to the scene, and crews extinguished the fire.
"There were no casualties, and firefighters left the scene after ensuring the area was safe."
