NHS Scotland is currently looking for people to relocate to a spectacular island.

At the moment, the healthcare service is hiring a number of positions on the tiny Isle of Benbecula in the Outer Hebrides. Home to a population of around just 1,300 people, Benbecula features tiny lochs, magnificent sandy beaches, and several shops and cafés in its main settlement of Balivanich.

A variety of roles with NHS Scotland are currently being advertised through employment site HiJOBS, with most based at the island's Uist and Barra Community Hospital. These are catered towards different skill and experience levels.

The highest-paid position available on the Isle of Benbecula is an Advanced Nurse/Paramedic Practitioner, which pays as much as £56,747 per year plus an annual Distant Island Allowance of £1,349. The role is a fixed-term post, and involves 25 hours of work per week.

The Advanced Nurse/Paramedic Practitioner will be part of the island's first-response team, and provide urgent healthcare. They will also take part in care home visits, as well as NHS 24, custody care, and Hospital at Home care.

NHS Scotland is also looking for a Bank Cook/Chef. With varying work hours, the job pays between £26,869 and £28,998 per year — plus the £1,349 Distant Islands Allowance.

The successful applicant will be responsible for producing and serving "high quality meals" for patients and staff. They will also supervise all aspects of the kitchen, and will be responsible for deliveries and washing up.

While experience in hospitality and a commercial background would be "advantageous", they are not necessary to apply. However, a food hygiene certificate and a professional cookery qualification is required.

Elsewhere, NHS Scotland is also looking to hire a Community Equipment Service Assistant Storekeeper. The position, which involves 18.6 hours of work each week, has a starting salary of up to £26,763.

Other positions available include a Staff Nurse OUAB and a Stroke Liaison Nurse, with starting salaries of up to £39,375 and £48,635 respectively. The former job will involve assessing and managing ill patients in emergency situations, while the Stroke Liaison Nurse will be responsible for administering care to patients who have suffered strokes.

In terms of what you can get up to when you're not working, Benbecula offers plenty to occupy your time with. Whether you're sitting down for a hearty meal at the The Stepping Stone restaurant in Balivanich, hiking up to the island's breathtaking highest point of Rueval, or even going on a horse ride at the Uist Community Riding School, you will be surprised by just how much there is to see and do.

The HiJOBS website states: "NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best.

"To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society."
