Arsenal handed fresh Jamal Musiala transfer update as talks confirmed

The latest Arsenal transfer news as an update from Bayern Munich sheds new light on contract negotiations with rumoured target Jamal Musiala

Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has expressed positivity over the club's chances of tying down rumoured Arsenal target Jamal Musiala to a new contract after recent discussions.

The Gunners have been linked with the ongoing situation over in Germany, rumoured to be waiting to pounce if the German sensation continues to stall Bayern's efforts to renew terms before their expiry in 2026. Alongside them are rivals Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea, and Spanish giants Real Madrid are said to also be in the running.

At 21 years of age with 171 senior appearances, 46 goals and 34 assists to his name, there is no wonder why the talented attacking midfielder is on Mikel Arteta's radar. However with little they can do right now other than bide their time, the latest update spells bad news for Arsenal and their hopes.

Asked about the situation in Saturday's press conference, sporting director Max Eberl responded: "There was not just one meeting, we're in talks. I'm very confident. Something is happening here and Jamal is noticing that too.

"He's an exceptional player, and alongside Josh [Kimmich] and a few others he should become a face of Bayern. We told the player that too. And now we are looking at how we can reach an agreement. I'm an optimist and I see no reason why he should leave Bayern."

This comment echoes the thoughts of club CEO Herbert Hainer, who told Sky Germany previously he hopes Musiala can become heir to Bayern great Thomas Muller and play for them for the next 20 years.

"In my opinion, he could become the second Thomas Müller and play here for the next 20 years. I'm very hopeful and optimistic that we'll see him at Bayern for a long time," Hainer said.

"I really appreciate Jamal when you see how much he has developed over the last few years," Hainer continued, adding that "many say he will be the best player in the world one day.

"I think he really appreciates what he has at FC Bayern Munich. He expresses that time and time again. And of course we know what we have in him. So we want to do everything we can to keep him at Bayern for the long term."

But the delay in sealing any deal has come down to the intricacies involved. Simply put by Christian Falk, if Bayern want Musiala to become their talisman in the long run then he would hope his importance is reflected by his personal salary, his position as the face of the club and with the team being built around himself in his preferred No.10 position.
