Aston Villa star hesitates over Philippe Coutinho and Jack Grealish question

The Argentinian admits the Brazilian is 'unreal' and would like to see him make the permanent move to Villa Park

Emiliano Martinez says he is undecided whether he would rather have Philippe Coutinho or Jack Grealish in his team at Aston Villa.

Following a eight-year spell at Arsenal before his £20million move to Villa, Martinez is now in line to achieve something special in claret and blue colours as the club continues to recruit top-quality players.

Coutinho is certainly one of them after joining on loan from Barcelona in January.

With Steven Gerrard appearing eager to exercise the option to sign the Brazilian on a permanent basis in the summer, Martinez has suggested he would like to see that happen.

"When we lost Jack last season, he was the best player. I thought [to myself after Coutinho joined Villa]: ‘Actually, if we signed Phil early on in the season, we’d be fighting (for) top seven’," Martinez said in an interview for Amazon Prime Video Sport.

And when asked who he would rather have in the team, he responded: "That’s a tough one, they’re both amazing.

"Jack was on fire last season but Phil is unreal. I did an interview last season saying Jack Grealish is Messi with a right foot. [But] when I see Phil turning, wow!

"The best Phil, you will see later in the season. Top lad, humble!"
