Viewers of I'm A Celebrity 2024 were in for a surprise on Monday night as Tulisa Contostavlos' unexpected exit from the jungle caused quite the stir, with the singer herself seeming startled by her departure.
Tulisa opened up to Ant and Dec about her challenging experience in the jungle, admitting it was "hard in there" while sporting a brave face. She expressed relief at the thought of swapping rice and beans for pizza, but noted a newfound appreciation for life's luxuries.
"You're just going to be more grateful for everything. The food you eat, the people that you love... you don't realise how good you've got it," she said to the duo, acknowledging the "testing" nature of her jungle stint yet proud of remaining 'true' to herself.
In a revealing chat on ITV's Lorraine the following morning, Tulisa delved deeper into her relationships with her campmates, hinting not all were as genuine as they appeared on camera.
When probed by Lorraine Kelly on whether any camp friendships could last beyond the show, Tulisa gave a thoughtful response, reflecting on the future dynamics outside of the jungle limelight. "I feel like I have with some of them. I think they will be friends for life. But a lot of people for the cameras were being very pally pally but the real test will be when everyone is out. Will they make the effort to send texts in the group chat? Will they do the four hour drives to see each other? We'll see..." she pondered.
Lorraine didn't let Tulisa off the hook without asking which of her fellow contestants she's rooting for to take the crown, prompting an immediate response from the N-Dubz star.
Tulisa has expressed her fondness for Oti Mabuse, describing her as a "Oti is just a pure soul. She's amazing and people like her are hard to come by", after the pair formed a close bond in the jungle.
The singer also disclosed that she had developed strong relationships with Alan Halsall, Maura Higgins, and Melvin Odoom during their time in the jungle, and would be thrilled to see them alongside Oti in the final four.
Fans were taken aback when they learned of Tulisa's departure from the show. One viewer expressed their shock: "So surprised that Tulisa is the one gone."
Another said: "Tulisa should've been a finalist," while a third exclaimed: "WHO THE ACTUAL F*** VOTED FOR TULISA."
Another fan lamented: "OMG nooooo not Tulisa! ! ! ! She didn't get a proper chance. This makes me so sad," while another echoed similar sentiments: "Tulisa was one of the strongest character's in the jungle this year. There are so many big personalities in there and I feel like we didn't get to see her shine. Such a shame,".
Following the main show, Ant and Dec expressed their surprise at Tulisa's exit on ITV spin-off Unpacked.
Both presenters questioned: "Who saw that coming? Not me! " Dec described her as a "big" and "integral" part of the show this year, while Ant admitted: "That was a real shock for me that was."
Dec further commented: "It's so hard to call it this year. There's people at home going I like them all, I don't know who to vote for, I'll vote for this person tonight," suggesting viewers may have mistakenly assumed campmates would be safe.
