Advocacy Canada is celebrating trans and queer joy with a day of unity in the Okanagan Valley.

Advocacy Canada is inviting the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and their allies to join in on the celebration on Sept. 22 with a statement of solidarity as the event is dedicated to uplifting and honouring the trans and queer community.

Taking place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., this event aims to inspire people with live performances, a number of guest speakers, a collaborative art project and a sense of belonging and inclusion.

Advocacy Canada says the event is more than just a celebration and that it's a stand against the rising challenges and discrimination faced by the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

“In a time when solidarity is crucial, this event serves as a reminder that the Okanagan Valley is a place where everyone is welcome and celebrated,” said Advocacy Canada president, Wilbur Turner.

“By coming together, we not only honour the richness of our diverse identities but also take a stand to ensure that our community continues to grow more inclusive and accepting.”

Celebrating Trans and Queer Joy will be held at RCA Commons, located at 421 Cawston, Ave.
