Tom Parker's widow Kelsey shares resilient kids' reaction to meeting her new boyfriend
Kelsey Parker's two children lost their dad - The Wanted star Tom Parker - in 2022, and she revealed how she brought her new boyfriend into the family
by Katie Francis · The MirrorTom Parker's widow Kelsey Parker, 34, has opened up about how things went down when she introduced her two children to her new beau.
Kelsey shares daughter Aurelia, five, and son Bodhi, four, with her late partner, Tom Parker. The Wanted singer Tom died in March 2022 at the age of just 33 after being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Kelsey referred to the talented musician as the “love of her life,” and has been open about finding her feet and venturing into the dating world again.
Speaking on the podcast Mum’s The Word - which Kelsey co-hosts with Georgia Jones, wife of I’m a Celeb star Danny Jones - Kelsey revealed that she’d already introduced her young children to her new boyfriend, tree surgeon Will. “How did you find introducing Will to Rae and Bodhi?” Georgia asked, reading from a fan question.
Kelsey admitted it was a “really hard question,” but explained: “I found it really easy. I think Will - I talk about it all the time, how laidback he is - so he didn't really think that deeply and neither did the kids." “Did you pre-warn them?” former Miss England Georgia asked.
Kelsey shared: “You know what, for me just to be honest, I just thought, do you know what he might as well meet the kids, because I did have a boyfriend before, it didn't work out. The kids actually have never brought up the fact of my past boyfriend. Kids are resilient, and it is what it is. If I'm with Will for the next ten years we could still split up, I could be with him for three months and it could not work out. I don't think you can really think like that, so I just didn’t make it a massive-"
Georgia interjected: “- I think the thing is as well because you want them all in your life, it then becomes very tricky if you don’t introduce Will for such a long time, you’re going to end up spending a lot of time without the kids and a lot of time without Will. So really if you introduce them slightly earlier on it kind of makes it easier for you, doesn’t it?”
Kelsey agreed, and added: "Again there's no wrong or right time either. Probably people from the outside go 'oh she did it too quick' but that's me, that's the kids. They absolutely love Will.” "You know you and your kids. You know what’s right for you,” Georgia said. "And he's just such a positive impact on them,” Kelsey gushed.
The social media influencer then shared how Will had put aside his love of football and skipped out on an Arsenal game, instead opting to go and see Kelsey’s children perform at a show. “He had to come and watch the kids. And he absolutely idolises them and they idolise him,” she shared as Georgia cooed approvingly.
