ITV I'm A Celebrity fans slam new twist after vote-off announcement

Viewers of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here made their feelings known about a shocking new twist as the series draws to a close

Viewers were far from happy with the latest I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here twist as the end nears.

With under a week to go until this year's king or queen of the jungle is announced, fans were left unimpressed with the latest twist for the camp. The iconic Cyclone trial is one contestants are eager to take part in and this year, one campmate could find themselves with a free ride through to the event.

That's because producers have decided the celebs should battle it out for tokens in a new trial - and whoever wins is exempt from the next two vote-offs and going straight through to take on the Celebrity Cyclone.

Joel Dommett revealed on Unpacked that the "big surprise" Ant and Dec had eluded to in the main show was that there would be no vote-off tonight (Wednesday) following the exit of Melvin Odoom. Dec had said to viewers: "We are not reopening the vote for tomorrow because we've got a massive surprise for them. More will be revealed in tomorrow's show."

But some fans aren't taking well to the news and let their feelings be heard on Twitter/X. One user blasted the producers for trying to influence the public too much. "I don’t like this it’s like saving people that would otherwise go and what people win a ticket to cyclone rather than being final 4? To much influencing public vote this is not bbuk," they said.

Another added: "Stop trying to affect the voting and send someone straight into the final ffs," while a third said: "celebs have a chance to be saved from two vote offs and get to do the cyclone. not sure how i feel about this."

The opinion was echoed by others, with another viewer commenting: "What is it with ITV shows adding unnecessary and pointless twists towards the end of their series," with another blasting: "What? We don’t get to vote for who we want in the final? I don’t want the celebs to get golden tickets to the cyclone. I want to vote for my faves to be there!!"

Earlier on Tuesday, Melvin became the fourth contestant to be evicted from the current series. When his name was announced by the Geordie duo, he yelled out: "Yes!" No, this is good!" as he got up and gave his campmates a thumbs up. Speaking to the presenters, he asked: "Was I the happiest to leave? Sorry, I smell."

He went on: "I was ready to go, but it's been a really wild experience. Ups and downs. The best thing about it has been the people." He explained how he felt everyone had his back before saying Oti was "his girl" and shouted out Barry McGuigan. "I did struggled on certain days," he admitted.
