Cillian Murphy spotted on Peaky Blinders' film set in West Midlands
by Jamie Brassington, Ed Chatterton, https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/authors/jamie-brassington/ · Birmingham LiveTommy Shelby actor Cillian Murphy has been spotted on the film set that's descended on a Black Country nature reserve this week, with fans clamouring to catch a glimpse of the TV star. The 48-year-old Irish actor was pictured amongst film crews at Bumble Hole and Warrens Hall Nature Reserve in Netherton, Dudley, today on Wednesday (November 11).
Cillian appeared looking relaxed on a towpath wearing the gangster's trademark flat cap and three-piece suit along the Dudley Canal. The movie star braved sub-zero conditions as filming continued for the second day on the hotly anticipated Peaky Blinders movie, at the freezing beauty spot in Netherton. The snow that's fallen this week provided a scenic, wintry backdrop.
Crews from the production company Oblik Productions Ltd have been busy filming at the nature reserve on Tuesday and Wednesday (November 19 and 20). The Peaky Blinders movie, called The Immortal Man, is set to air on Netflix in late 2025 or early 2026.

A section of the Dudley Canal towpath at the nature reserve has been closed off until Friday, while mooring is also suspended as part of the filming. Snow was pictured falling over the film set, while in another shot, the atmosphere appeared smoky and misty.
Peaky Blinders fans still clamoured to try and get a glimpse of Cillian as he shot scenes on a barge that travelled along the canal at Bumble Hole and Warrens Hall Nature Reserve. One onlooker said: "Despite the freezing conditions, he looked pretty relaxed and was laughing and joking with the cast and crew.

"They shot scenes on a narrowboat which went up and down the canal and a fair number of fans had gathered to try and get a look at him. If they wanted some atmospheric wintry shots for the film, they've picked the perfect day for it."
The nature reserve and the Dudley Canal that passes through it was used as an outdoor film set by Oblik Productions Ltd for the second time in a number of weeks. A large quantity of props, including coal sacks, barrels and carts, could also be seen gathered on site alongside canal boats.
The gritty BBC series Peaky Blinders ran from 2013 to 2022 and followed the rise of the Shelby family after the First World War. The film is now expected to pick up the family's fortunes a few years later, entering the Second World War years.
