With Christmas just around the corner, festive markets are popping up all over Scotland.

Thousands of locals and tourists have already descended on Edinburgh's iconic Christmas Market after opening at the weekend, while there are countless others around the country that are also worth a visit. If you are in the Scottish capital but looking for something a bit quieter, there is a hidden gem market nearby that you should definitely check out.

As reported by the Scottish Daily Express, Whitekirk Hill Christmas Fair is located only 45 minutes out of Edinburgh's city centre. It will take place this weekend, between November 22 and 24.

The Christmas Fair will include a variety of stalls selling everything you could want ahead of the festive season. The East Lothian countryside also provides an idyllic backdrop as you do your Christmas shopping.

Visitors will be able to pick up a variety of tasty food. According to organiser Exclusively Highland, a "range of sublime venison, sausages, pies and ready to cook meals" will be available, as well as a "fine collection of unusual and locally produced honey".

Elsewhere, The Damn Fine Cheese company will be stocking everything could need for your Christmas cheeseboard. Spice Harmony will also be selling "enchanting chutneys", in addition to a "mouth watering array of fudge, tablet, confectionery honeys and preserves".

In terms of alcohol, there will be a variety of gins, rum, liqueurs, spiced rum, and whiskies on offer. Local artisans will also be exhibiting a selection of potential Christmas presents, including soaps, skincare, homeware, and jewellery.

The full list of vendors who will appear at the Whitekirk Hill Christmas Fair is expected to be announced this week. Previous Exclusively Highland events have hosted between 70 and 100 stalls.

Entry to the fair is free, with the market running from 10am to 4pm. There will also be a café where you can sit down for brunch or a treats.

After checking out the fair, you can venture just 15 minutes out and explore North Berwick. Previously named the UK's "best place to live", North Berwick is famous for its golf course, scenic beach, and variety of independent shops.
