A38 closed for 'some time' after HGV and pedestrian crash
by Toby Codd · DevonLiveA stretch of the A38 is expected to remain closed for some time after a crash this afternoon (Monday, December 16). Devon and Cornwall Police was called to the collision near Ashburton at around 1.45pm.
It involved a heavy goods vehicle and a pedestrian on the eastbound carriageway. A full road closure was put in place but the westbound side has since reopened.
Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called at around 1.45pm on Monday 16 December to the A38 near Ashburton following a report of a collision involving a heavy goods vehicle and a pedestrian.
"The ambulance service has also been called and the road was closed in both directions. The road has since reopened westbound but will remain closed in the eastbound direction for some time."
