A brazen crook who raided a bookies with a hammer has died behind bars at a Scots prison.

Lee Brown, 36, died whilst serving a 43 month sentence at HMP Addiewell on November, 17 2024.

Edinburgh Live reports that police have been made aware and that a mandatory Fatal Accident Inquiry will take place.

Brown was banged up in 2023 after admitting to the assault of a couple and threatening the man with violence. Brown, working alongside someone else, repeatedly asked the couple for keys to their safe and told the woman they would "do something to your man's head" if she did not give them the key.

The Courier, then reported, how Brown wore a face covering, a high-vis jacket, black gloves and had black bags taped over his shoes during the incident.

Brown and his associate reportedly told they did not own a safe and the pair left the property before making off the wrong way in the couple's Toyota having stolen two mobile phones.
