‘Rockstar’ Minister

K.K. Shailaja, a CPI(M) leader and MLA from Mattanur constituency, has been hailed as a “rockstar” health minister for her efforts to contain the COVID-19 pandemic in Kerala and before that, the Nipah virus.

Her English memoir, co-written with Manju Sara Rajan, former CEO of the Kochi Biennale Foundation and journalist, was launched in Delhi on April 28, 2023. The book traces her transition from a school teacher to a much-lauded minister, the influences that shaped her and what motivates her political work.
