Nga Kor Ming: KPKT Will Not Block Non-Muslim Houses of Worship from Applying for Assistance
by Renushara · WORLD OF BUZZMinister of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), Nga Kor Ming, is now clarifying that non-Muslim houses of worship (RIBI) can apply for maintenance funds every year and that KPKT will not block applications, especially from those who have previously received aid.
In a statement shared on his Facebook page, he wrote, “This assistance will be distributed based on the needs of each applicant with priority given to those who urgently need assistance and those who have never received assistance.”
He went on to explain that, as of October of this year, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has channelled maintenance assistance totalling RM46.13 million to 422 non-Muslim houses of worship, including Indian and Chinese temples, churches and gurdwaras.
In Budget 2025, the MADANI government has also allocated another RM50 million for this purpose.
“The Minister of KPKT asks all parties to sincerely help the people and not try to politicise the issue by providing false information and trying to create confusion,” the statement added.
This comes after KPKT Deputy Minister Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu shared that KPKT is amending guidelines for these applications to ensure that non-Muslim houses of worship do not receive repeated allocations by disallowing them from making an application within 3 years of receiving allocations.
