Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis to buy another club with key role for Edu

Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is set to take over another club in the wake of his move for Edu - now eyeing one in Brazil.

Edu quit Arsenal earlier this month in a bombshell move. It was reported that a driving force behind his decision to move was the chance to work within a multi-club set-up.

Forest boss Marinakis is at the head of such a model with the Greek businessman also owning Europa Conference League winners Olympiacos and Portuguese side Rio Ave, as well as the Premier League side.

But now the 57-year-old is reportedly in talks to add another club to his portfolio, adding even more workload to Edu's pile once he officially completes a move. As per The Telegraph, Marinakis is attempting to buy Brazilian side Vasco da Gama.

They were previously owned by 777 partners but their financial model collapsed, leaving the club under the control of US insurance giant A-Cap. Vasco da Gama currently sit ninth in the Brazilian Serie A standings.

They already have a small former Premier League contingent at the club. Ex-Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho is currently in the midst of a loan move from Aston Villa, while former West Ham playmaker Dimitri Payet is also at the club.

Vasco da Gama is not the only club that Marinakis is reportedly eyeing up. He has long been linked with a move for Italian side Monza. Should both deals go through, that would see ex- Arsenal chief Edu given a significant role in five separate clubs. Speaking after his Arsenal exit was confirmed, he said: "This was an incredibly hard decision to make.

"Arsenal has given me the opportunity to work with so many amazing people and the chance to be a part of something so special in the club's history. It has been a special journey and I thank Stan, Josh, Tim and Lord Harris for the support they've given me.

"I've loved working with so many great colleagues across our men's, women's and academy teams, especially Mikel, who has become a great friend. Now it is time to pursue a different challenge. Arsenal will always remain in my heart. I wish the club and its supporters only good things and all the very best."
