Newsboy’s horseracing tips for Friday’s four meetings, including Ayr Nap

Newsboy fancies his nap, Coto De Gaza, to win at Ayr and also hopes Lake Forest can score at Newbury and complete his Daily Double

COTO DE CAZA (3.05, NAP) can take the leap up to Listed class and land the Harry Rosebery at Ayr on Friday.

The Simon and Ed Crisford-trained filly has shown a tendency to get worked up before her races but that hasn’t stopped her winning two of her three starts.

Inexperience probably got the better of her on her Lingfield debut but she knew what she was doing next time out, scooting up by five lengths at Beverley in July.

Out again at Goodwood at the end of the month she nearly lowered the 5f track record by a juvenile in winning a valuable conditions race.

She was declared for the Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster last Saturday but was taken out with a vet’s certificate. My selection should be hard to beat in this company.

At Newbury, William Haggas can add to his three wins in the last 10 runnings of the Listed Dubai Duty Free Stakes with LAKE FOREST (4.05, NB).

The Commonwealth Cup runner-up was also heading to the St Leger meeting but was pulled out of the Park Stakes because of the ground having also missed another Group 2 at York after he got upset in the stalls.

He ran his best race to date at Newbury in July, finishing half a length second behind Elite Status in the Group 3 Hackwood Stakes over 6f, and has more to offer over 7f.
