Samsung Care+ will have free screen replacement, with a catch

Samsung has been actively restructuring its device protection plan for some time now. Earlier this year in March, the company introduced a new perk for the Samsung Care+ subscribers that offers unlimited battery replacement with a price hike. Now, Samsung says that its Care+ extended warranty service will also include free screen replacement for Galaxy devices.

Samsung Care+ adds free screen replacement for your Galaxy devices starting January 2025

For the uninitiated, Samsung Care+ offers additional coverage for your Galaxy smartphones, watches, and tablets. It helps you with replacement and repairs in case of damage, and even theft on some plans. Talking of broken screen repairs, you are currently required to pay a little extra even if you’re subscribed to Samsung Care+. That additional cost starts at $29 per cracked screen.

But, that’ll change starting January next year with Samsung Care+ “Zero Dollar Screen Repairs.” Folks over at 9to5Google accessed an email sent by Samsung to Care+ subscribers which confirms the upcoming change. The email reads, “Effective January 15, 2025, Samsung and Samsung Care+ with Theft and Loss will be introducing ZERO DOLLAR SCREEN REPAIRS.”

The latest perk from Samsung is an automatic addition for the Care+ subscribers. In addition to mail-in and walk-in repairs, it’ll apply to repairs at your nearest Samsung service center.

There’s a catch, though

Samsung says it will cover the replacement of the front screen and back glass of the Galaxy devices. However, it seems this perk wouldn’t cover the replacement of folding displays on the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip smartphones.

Before you get too excited, please carefully read the part of Samsung’s email mentioned above. Samsung is only offering the free screen replacement perk to subscribers of “Care+ with Theft and Loss.” Why? That’s because it’s the more expensive option. Moreover, if you have subscribed to any other Care+ plan, you’ll not be eligible for this offer.
