Support Independent Chocolate with A24 Candy Bars
The indie studio has unveiled a line of candy bars that pair well with "Everything Everywhere All at Once."
by Tony Maglio · IndieWireA24 is tired of AMC making the real margins in movie theaters — the ones at the snack stand just beyond the box office.
The indie studio has crafted its first-ever food item, Movie Chocolate, which is available as of today, Wednesday, November 20, at 10 a.m. ET in three flavors. The goodies can be purchased at select AMC theaters in the U.S. as well as online. Each of the bars are milk chocolate. Here are the flavors, in A24’s own words:
Fizzy Fountain Soda: Once you pop, you can’t stop. Creamy root beer meets explode-in-your-mouth popping candies in a perfectly not-too-sweet milk chocolate candy bar.
Popcorn & Candy: For the candy-in-your-popcorn people. Fluffy popcorn meets chocolate-covered candies in one perfectly balanced milk chocolate candy bar.
Salty Peanut Crunch: Classic co-stars with undeniable chemistry. Creamy milk chocolate with salty whole peanuts and a caramel crunch. Sweet, savory, oh-so satisfying. You’ll keep returning again and again.
We’re still reeling from root beer chocolate…
You can buy any or all of them at moviechocolate.co and/or the A24 shop. Individually, the bars are $5.99 at AMCs or $5 flat online. You can also opt for the “premium gift set,” which will run you $33.
The Triple Feature (Gift Set): Bring home the entire concession stand with the ultimate triple feature: 3 flavors, 6 bars, complete with a Gift Box and bow. The perfect gift for the Movie Chocolate lover in your life.
This isn’t some fly-by-night operation. As our readers know, A24 films are synonymous with quality — so the chocolate has to be on point. The team at A24 has been working on the candy-bar lineup for “the past few years,” we’re told.
Movie-watching snacks have been very big business as Hollywood searches for new revenue streams post-COVID. Both AMC and Netflix launched their own popcorn lines, and Cinemarks have partnered with food-delivery services to bring Sour Patch Kids and Icees from their lobbies to your door. Even on Fandango (soon to no longer be under the NBCUniversal umbrella!), users can now pre-purchase snacks as they’re buying their tickets.
With all due respect to the fine folks at Hershey: Support independent chocolate.
