Cat owners go wild for 'clever' product to protect Christmas tree from feline friends

If you have a cat then you'll know that a distraction from your Christmas tree is very much needed.

Anyone with pets may be dreading this time of year as the Christmas tree becomes an unmissable attraction for those who want to grab the decorations or even pull the whole thing down. From eating tree needles to knocking off baubles, the cheeky felines know how to wreak havoc on your Christmas decorations.

Social media influencers believe they have found the perfect pet distraction that will keep your tree safe from chaos this Christmas.

This year pet owners are using tree skirts that have been adapted to suit their cats. Described on Amazon as a 'peekaboo cat cave', the fluffy tunnel, which costs £48, has a discreet hole, so the cats can entertain themselves without causing problems.

Also known a doughnut tunnel, it's fully collapsible, and easy to carry and store, so perfect to take with you to family members if you are planning to take along your cat to join in on the festive celebrations.

Cat owner Lexibunch shared a video of her pet in the skirt, calling it a 'parenting hack' for your pet children.

Sharing the cute clip, she wrote: 'A functional tree skirt that distracts the fur babies. #petsoftiktok #funnypets #cattunnel #catpeople #catproblems #cats'

Lexi's followers were quick to praise the idea hailing it 'clever'.

A happy shopper gushed: "Love it, love it, love it! However, one less than satisfied buyer said: "It’s a really great product, but I bought with the intention of using under my Christmas tree and it isn’t remotely big enough."
