Jetting off for a sun-soaked holiday is always a treat, and one travel enthusiast insists that you should visit four "amazing" Greek islands for an "authentic feel".

Santorini, with its stunning views, crystal clear waters and striking white buildings, is a dream destination for many. However, the island attracts over three million visitors annually, leading to overcrowding. Earlier this year, some videos went viral as tourists complained about their "having an awful time" due to the packed conditions.

While avoiding peak times can help, travel content creator Nikki suggests visiting four other beautiful islands instead. "Go to these amazing islands with far fewer crowds and an even more authentic feel," she recently advised on TikTok.

Known as Nikki On Her Way, she added: "Greece has so many amazing islands that all have something to offer. Overall, Santorini is beautiful, but it is seriously lacking in the authenticity department."

Nikki's first recommendation is Naxos, which she describes as "gorgeous". She said: "The towns and villages of Nacos are picturesque and there's also great shopping with tons of handmade and local items."

The travel blogger revealed that she found Naxos to be more affordable than other popular Greek destinations like Santorini or Mykonos. Nikki and her partner shelled out €57 [£47.34] per night for their lodgings, and discovered some of the most stunning beaches in the Cyclades with crystal clear seas.

"There's also incredible history on the island of Naxos," Nikki added. The adventurer was equally enamoured with Paros; it boasts two picturesque towns to explore and a "very laid back atmosphere".

Nikki also praised the island's vibrant nightlife, delicious cuisine, and diverse range of beaches. "There is something for everyone," she said.

Additionally, she recommends exploring the coastlines of Paros and Antiparos by boat - either by renting one or joining a tour. She advised travellers to skip Santorini and instead visit these lesser-known islands for a more authentic experience.

Nikki and her partner's favourite beaches were located on the island of Milos. Nikki shared: "There are actually parts of the island that you can only get to by boat that are stunning."

She enthused: "Milos also has the famous Sarakiniko beach which is like being on the moon, if the moon had an ocean. Milos has beautiful, colourful fishing villages that you can explore all over the island. It also has towns and villages that sit above the water that give you gorgeous views."

She was equally impressed with the seafood on offer and confirmed she'd be back for more. Crete, the largest and most populous Greek island, was not forgotten. Nikki remarked: "It has stunning mountain landscapes, gorgeous beaches, big cities, small towns, it really has everything."

She noted the presence of well-known shops and a variety of unique and visually stunning beaches. The wine, food, and striking pink sands were other highlights mentioned by Nikki.

For UK travellers, reaching the Greek islands is possible via direct flights or ferries.
