'I tried LookFantastic's December box and it has all you need to glow this party season'
Lookfantastic's December Beauty Box contains a whole host of skincare goodies to leave you with a healthy glow this Christmas, says beauty writer Eve Rowlands
by Eve Rowlands · The MirrorWith many luxury advent calendars sold out, and Black Friday deals coming to an end, LookFantastic's December Beauty Box has dropped offering beauty fans a chance to try out some incredible brands and products for as little as £15 before Christmas.
The box itself is worth a hefty £69, which means you can save yourself £54 on some pretty epic beauty products from the likes of Gatineau and NUXE to REN. Now, if you're not familiar with LookFantastic's monthly subscription box model, let me explain.
Costing £15 for a one off month or £13 if you want to commit to a 12 month subscription, receiving the box month on month, the brand's beauty box usually contains six premium skincare and make-up products, as was the case with its November box, all delivered to your door. Although this December we've been gifted a bonus seventh, which is real Christmas treat, and let me tell you - you'll be glowing from head to toe after testing out these beauties.

Coming neatly packaged in a recyclable cardboard box, this December haul from LookFantastic is packed with a moisturising face gel-cream, shimmering body oil, hair oil, cleanser, blusher, gradual tanning lotion and a vibrant red nail varnish - to keep it festive.
Starting off with the Uriage Bariederm-Cica Daily Gel-Cream, which retails at £22 (so you've already saved £7 on this product alone if buying the box for a one-time gift). Applying it after washing my face, the texture was super light and felt quite watery - rather than heavy and rich - which is really refreshing.
The product description claims to repair and improve 'dull complexions, discomfort, signs of fatigue, fine lines, small visible imperfections, or light redness'. While I've not yet witnessed any of the above happening - I've not been using it long enough - it absorbed rapidly into my skin and left it instantly soft. Plus, it feels pretty soothing and really hydrated after I've used it - I assume that's thanks to its Centella Asiatica, Hyaluronic Acids and Vitamin B5 infused formula.
I was intrigued by the NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Shimmering Florale Multi-Purpose Dry Oil - which can be used on the hair as well as the body and face. What I first noticed about this shimmering oil was its floral fragrance, which I will say is not as 'light' as it claims. I found it left a fragrance lingering in the air after application, which was quite luxurious although, for me, maybe a bit too heavy.
Having only applied it to my legs and arms so far, my skin was left silky smooth after using just a few drops. No doubt this is thanks to the seven 'precious' oils that include Tsubaki, argan, macadamia, borage, camellia, hazelnut and sweet almond in the concoction. True to its description it dried rapidly - I could apply my clothes almost immediately - and it did leave a very subtle luminosity, and not too pearly. As an oil, it is quite watery so be careful it doesn't go all over your floor.
Having used the Moroccanoil Original Treatment in the past, I knew that my hair was going to be a fan. The treatment is infused with antioxidant-rich Argan Oil and radiance-enhancing vitamins and, after applying it to damp hair, it left my locks feeling lovely and looking smoother (running a brush through it wasn't quite so much of a challenge).
Plus, the frizz was a bit more in check than if I left it to dry with zero products in tow - especially if I apply the oil to dry hair too. Anything to make my hair look and feel fabulous will have me hook, line and sinker.
Next up was the REN Clean Skincare Jelly Oil Cleanser - which firstly smells divine. An oil-based formula that contains grape seed, sunflower and meadowfoam oil, I liked how fresh this cleanser left my face smooth, fresh and glowy (at certain angles). Plus, it took my face make-up off pretty easily. While my first attempt didn't quite see the oil-to-milk transformation (I didn't put enough on), but squeezing out a 5p sized amount second time lucky did.
My only gripe is that these small applications essentially took out 1/3 almost half of the tube, so a larger size would have been appreciated for more longevity. But on a short haul trip, ideal.
Although what's fun about this tube though is that the deluxe size product has an innovative nozzle that you snap off to open the cleanser while its nozzle's tip is then used to close and plug the tube.
The only make-up products in the kit are a liquid blusher from Revolution - which is a lovely dusky rose tone that blends out nicely and leaves a hydrated glow, although you need to work quick as it dries rapidly - and a scarlet red nail varnish, something you can never have enough of.
One product I'm excited to see the results of over time is the Gatineau Golden Glow gradual tan lotion. As a big fan of its face moisturiser, I knew the formula would be light on the skin and easily absorbed. Built with coconut oil and vitamin E, the lotion, which is watery than thick, left my skin quite soft. As a gradual tan, I knew not to expect any change to my skin-tone just yet but after a few more applications, I'm hoping I'll have a lovely natural sunkissed glow.
All in all, this December Beauty Box from LookFantastic is lovely way to help you indulge in some real TLC this festive season, whether your skin is in need of a much needed glug of hydration or your hair needs some zhuzhing.
Elsewhere, LookFantastic isn't the only beauty retailer offering monthly beauty edits straight to your door. Glossybox has its own beauty subscription model here at £13.50 for a one off payment or £12.50 for a year's subscription.
